Santiniketan to be listed as world heritage site?

A highly placed official of Visva Bharati, however, said the delegation might arrive in Santiniketan on October 5.

The Archaeological Survey of India had submitted a formal request to UNESCO for inclusion of parts of Santiniketan on the world heritage site list on January 20 this year.

If accepted, the places that would get the world heritage tag under the 'culture' category were the ashram complex, Uttarayan complex and the institutes of Visva-Bharati and Sriniketan.
